Expanding Opportunities for ISIAQ Members: Introducing the Indoor Environment Innovation Network

We're excited to unveil the ISIAQ Innovation Network, a pioneering initiative aimed at propelling indoor air sciences to new heights. Rooted in a commitment to fostering collaboration, driving innovation, and expanding our collective knowledge base, this network is poised to redefine the landscape of our field.

The mission of the ISIAQ Innovation Network is to champion forward-thinking initiatives, driven by our members, on emerging topics within the indoor environment. By facilitating timely discussions and initiatives, the Innovation Network serves as a dynamic platform for progress and innovation.

At the heart of the network are the Research Collaboratives, which focus on specific topics relevant to indoor air quality and climate. These collaboratives operate with clear member-defined objectives, working towards targeted outcomes outlined in their applications to ISIAQ. From public information campaigns to policy papers, webinar series, interactive events, targeted research, and beyond, Research Collaboratives aim to advance our understanding and address challenges in indoor air quality and climate.

A core tenet of the Innovation Network is member inclusivity. Research Collaboratives are shaped by YOU, the ISIAQ members. Any member can propose to launch Research Collaboratives, offering an opportunity to shape the future of our field and cultivate peer networks within areas of interest. Applications will be regularly reviewed by the ISIAQ Board of Directors, ensuring a steady stream of innovative ideas and projects.

With an initial three-year term, Research Collaboratives provide ample opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange. Following this period, extensions in two-year terms are available, further solidifying their impact and contributions to the field.

Join us for a brainstorming and team-building session at Indoor Air 2024, where you can share your ideas and recruit fellow ISIAQ members to help achieve your goals. Additionally, an online workshop will follow the conference for those unable to attend in person.

We encourage all ISIAQ members to seize this opportunity to network, grow, and propel our field forward. Together, let's embark on this journey of innovation, collaboration, and exploration within indoor air sciences.

Indoor Environments: Your Gateway to Advancing Indoor Science!

The ISIAQ Board of Directors proudly reminds you of our latest endeavor: Indoor Environments, a new journal owned by ISIAQ and published by Elsevier. This society-owned, international, multi-disciplinary, and open-access journal expands upon our previous publication, welcoming contributions from all corners of the indoor air discipline.

Indoor Environments serves as a hub for advancing indoor environmental science and engineering, providing a crucial platform for researchers, scholars, and professionals. Exploring health, comfort, and climate change adaptation and mitigation within indoor spaces, the journal invites articles from researchers in the field.

To celebrate the launch of Indoor Environments, we're pleased to announce the waiver of the APC (Article Publishing Charge) for submissions received before June 30, 2024, and accepted after peer review. Are you conducting innovative research in indoor environments? Do you have valuable insights to share? We invite you to contribute to Indoor Environments, joining us in our journey to enhance our understanding of indoor environmental sciences.

Why Indoor Chemistry Matters Workshop 3: Reaching Communities for Action

Workshop presented by the National Academies Sciences Engineering Medicine

People spend a majority of their time inside their homes and other indoor environments, where they can be exposed to a wide range of chemicals. However, limited information is known about how exposure to indoor chemicals affects human health. A recently released report from the National Academies, Why Indoor Chemistry Matters, calls for further discussion about making indoor chemistry research a national priority.

Join the National Academies Sciences Engineering Medicine on April 10, 2024 for the final hybrid workshop exploring ways of improving indoor air quality in homes and public settings. Discussions will center around public health messaging, indoor air quality standards and regulations, and collaborating for impactful action. Members of the public are welcome to register, attend, and participate in this workshop.
